What resonated with me about Mads Nissen's video is his perception of documentary photography, “is about having something to say, …a voice that you want to share with other people.” I can also relate to what he referred to as the most important thing to him in documentary photography, is “the beauty of it or the charm or the power of it, is empathy.” He also mentioned being connected to your subjects, be emotional, be vulnerable, and be involved in order to present the viewer a true account of the events/subjects – being a photographer with an open heart in order to see, listen, feel, and be at present, in the moment.
